NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE - A new sightseeing and dining experience on the lower Niagara River will be launched in July by Niagara Sunset Cruises.
Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours pioneered jet boating on the lower part of the river in Niagara-on-the-Lake and expanded into the U.S. at its waterfront location in Lewiston, N.Y.
The success of jet boating proved different experiences should occur on this “truly magical” waterway, according to Niagara Sunset Cruises.
The natural next step was to offer a dining and sightseeing experience on the river.
Since Whirlpool has showcased the adventure and excitement of the Niagara River for 22 years – it is now time to showcase the beauty and tranquility of the Lower Niagara as it enters Lake Ontario,” says a press release from the company.
Owner and operator John Kinney states: “Anybody who has had the opportunity to watch a Lake Ontario Sunset from any of the shoreline vantage points in Niagara-on-the-Lake often says the same thing: Wouldn’t it be amazing to be on the water and have that an even better view?”
Hearing this conversation time and time again was essentially the driving force behind the idea to move forward with Niagara Sunset Cruises.
“What could be a more perfect fit than Niagara’s now world famous wines paired with a first class dining experience set against the beauty and serenity of the Lower Niagara River?” Kinney says of the dining cruises.
Niagara Sunset Cruises will offer a variety of dining options including brunch, lunch and dinner. The sightseeing cruises cruises will provide guests the opportunity to purchase 'a la carte' food options on board. Cruises will run Friday through Monday and 'the Niagara Belle' vessel will also be available for charter through the week.
The Niagara Belle is a 150-passenger paddle-wheeler.
By networking with Parks Canada, Niagara Sunset Cruises has established a departure location at Navy Hall, immediately below Fort George and a few minutes from the centre of Olde Town Niagara-on-the-Lake. Guests sailing aboard Niagara Sunset Cruises can park at the Navy Hall parking lot, just a few shorts steps from the Niagara Belle’s loading ramp.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to be able to offer yet another top notch attraction to visitors in Niagara. We are very passionate about what we do on the river already, and this very special experience is sure to appeal to a wide variety of potential visitors, “says Kinney.
The Niagara Belle can be booked online at www.niagarasunsetcruises.com or by calling 1-888-438-4444.
